Adrian  Doff and Craig Thaine: Being Strategic: Adult Learners and Speaking
Most adult learners who enrol in an English language course are keen to learn how to speak the language, often prioritising this skill above others. Moreover, as the skill of speaking involves more than just production of oral language, when teaching speaking, teachers need to not only consider the practice of target grammar, vocabulary, functional language, and spoken fluency. In the process of developing speaking skills, it’s useful if adult learners can learn to become effective communicators in English as well.
